U.S. Rice Bids Increase While Sellers Remain Unfazed by Futures Weakness

As of today, offers from farmers could still be found as low as $15.55 per cwt fob farm (about $343 per ton) for 50 pounds of whole rice for March shipment which generated zero interest while offers from resellers increased with the futures market to levels that remained attractive.

Bids from some mills increased today to around $14.00 per cwt (about $309 per ton) for March-April shipment which generated no selling interest while bids from smaller mills increased back to around $15.55 per cwt (about $341 per ton) for March-April delivery of 55 pounds of whole rice or better although no sellers were willing to come off of their price ideas today.

Bids from exporters increased today to around $14.50-$15.00 per cwt (about $320-$331 per ton) for March-April delivery of 50 pounds of whole rice or better however this bid was uncompetitive against domestic bids and was unable to generate any significant selling interest.
