WHAT: On the official launch of the United Nations International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) 2014, Copa-Cogeca invites you to a press conference where high-level representatives from across Europe will highlight the huge contribution family farms make to growth and jobs,food security and the environment in EU rural areas. Real life experiences from family farmers,who account for a major part of the 25 million people employed in the EU farm sector, will be showcased. Challenges and priorities will be outlined to ensure generation renewal in the future and a Declaration on the Role of Family Farming will be adopted. The UN IYFF 2014 aims to focus world attention on the role of family farms in alleviating hunger and poverty, providing food security and improving livelihoods, whilst protecting the environment and biodiversity.
